2019 Fall Testing Update

The 2019 testing season was an impressive one for Altmoor handlers who purchased their pup in 2018.  All of our owners who tested in VJP qualified to enter the International Armbruster, and several did.  The Armbruster is a combination invitational HZP and Breed Show and this year 30 or so of the best DD’s were entered.  With that as background, here’s a brief summary of each Altmoor dog tested in HZP this fall, starting with the youngest first.

Yvonne IV (Macie x Donner, DOB 7/23/18) owned by Jeff Hinman of Jackson WY scored a 70 in VJP in CO and received the Sight Loud designation.  She ran in the CO HZP on 15 September, receiving 11’s in Nose, Search, and Pointing, with a total score of 183.  We understand that two judging groups ran that day and that she was the second highest scoring dog of the day.

Xeva IV (Cara x Matz, DOB 5/18/18) owned by Ian Lambe of Amesbury MA scored a 74 at the PA VJP and was the high scoring pup of the day, with 11’s in Tracking and Nose.  At the Armbruster she ranked #9 of 30 dogs, with 11’s in Nose, Search, Pointing, Cooperation, and Desire and earning a total of 188 points, with Breed Show scores of 7/6.  Ian is a first time handler.

Xenta IV (Cara x Matz, DOB 5/18/18) owned by Kevin Flynn of Greenwich NY scored 74 at the Auburn NY VJP with 11’s in Nose, Search, and Cooperation, and was the highest scoring of the ten pups evaluated that weekend.  At  the Armbruster with a 188 she ranked # 7, earning 11’s in Nose, Search, Cooperation and Duck Search, with Breed Show scores of 11/10.  Xenta had only done a Duck Search three previous times.  Kevin is a first time handler.

Wanda IV ((Mady x Matz, DOB 5/17/18) owned by Ashley Drury of Springfield MO scored 68 at the Carthage MO VJP in March.  They then took time out from hunting sharptails in North Dakota to run in the Excello MO HZP on 6 October where she earned an 11 in Field Search for a total of 172 points.  Ashley is a Verbandsrichter (Association Judge).

Webb IV (Mady x Matz, DOB 5/17/18) owned by Alejandro Akrouh of NYC scored 67 in the PA VJP (2nd highest scoring dog of the day), after having scored a 54 a month earlier in NJ.  At the Armbruster Webb ranked #16 with an 11 in Duck Search, and Breed Show scores of 9/11.  Alejandro was very disappointed with his Armbruster score of 171 so he tested again in Gus, IA on 9/27/19.  Just as they pulled off in the spring, this time they got it right with a 189 and were the highest scoring of the 8 or 9 dogs tested that day, again getting an 11 in Field Search as he did in the PA VJP.  He also earned 11’s in Nose, Pointing, Desire, and Duck Search in the IA HZP.  Not bad for a dog raised in New York City.  Alejandro is a first time handler.

Vicky IV (Wendy x Donner, DOB 4/19/18) owned by Kim Klein of West Newfield ME scored 11’s in both Nose and Search in the NY VJP for a score of 71 with the Sight Loud designation.  At the NY HZP they received 11’s in Search and Cooperation and went home with a 184.  Then, at the Armbruster, they ranked # 11 with straight 10’s in every phase, for a total of 180 and a Breed Show score of 9/10.  Kim is a retired Game Warden and Vicky is his third DD from vom Altmoor.

Vera IV (Wendy x Donner, DOB 4/19/18) owned by Chris Wosnitzer of Howell NJ also received the Sight Loud designation in VJP in NJ with a score of 66 (2nd highest score given that weekend – 3 others scoring 68).  Vera’s Armbruster rank was #17, for a total of 171, and Breed Show scores of 10/9.  Chris is a first time handler.

We’d like to thank all of these handlers for the incredible dedication they demonstrated and their absolutely wonderful achievements.
